Jay

Jay has been living for the last four years or so at Cool Aid’s Rock Bay Landing shelter, which has 23 longer-term transitional beds where people can stay while looking for more permanent housing. Jay had been homeless for a long stretch around the Island before that after his aging dad died, a work arrangement went sour, and he lost his housing. On the day we talked outside of Rock Bay, he was picking up loose change on the street and collecting it in his “honey bear” to donate to the staff at Rock Bay. “They put up with a lot of shit,” he noted.
