Andrew

This is Andrew’s dog, Terra Firma. He named her that because “she keeps me on solid ground.” He first spotted her on the Block as a pup three years ago, and it was immediate love on both their parts. She often rides in his cart as part of the forced-nomad life of a person without housing, but is strong enough to pull it as well. Andrew says he’d be “gone from this block forever” if he could find a place to live, but it’s been six years and he’s still waiting, which he suspects is because of a long-ago dispute with one of the big social housing providers in the city. The housing registry waitlist is not managed as first-come first-serve, and some people will wait a very long time before one of the housing providers using the registry decides to picks them.
