Nick and his dog Bella are familiar faces on Pandora, where Nick has to work as hard to stop Bella’s necessities from being seized by bylaw as his own. Having Bella means he can’t always get an emergency shelter bed, because not all of them accept dogs. But he says sleeping outside is worth it to have a good companion. Nick had a home and a job for a lot of years, but was homeless from age 10 to 22 and has been back outside for a while now after life went sideways again. Nick says he was one of the original five “street kids” in the city back when that was a novel thing. He’s the only one still alive.
