Rob built his portable sleep quarters in September so he could strike out for more isolated hangouts, and was set up for a while under the Interurban overpass until the police suggested a lower profile part of Saanich. He’s had stints in supportive housing but finds it hard to live in such close quarters and with so many restrictions. He’s plenty warm in his new bunk but notes there are some downsides, like “not finding too many girlfriends who want to join me in my coffin!” Next challenge: Cataract surgery, which is going to complicate life for a 61-year-old who has to be able to manoeuvre his bicycle, his rolling bed, and another cart he tows.
