Ronnie

This is how much Ronnie likes getting his photo taken: even though he’s brutally sick and chalk white from not having the drug he needs, and recovering from a really tough pneumonia, he still says yeah, take that shot, and musters as much of a smile as he can. “Normally I love it when someone wants to take my picture, but I’ve got a head injury and I do a lot of heroin, and right now I don’t have any down. That is all really bothering me.” Ronnie ended up with a head injury after being beaten into a coma by a bouncer at a Vancouver bar a couple of years ago. A life that wasn’t easy to begin with got much harder. He tells me he lives in a hospital, “different than the emergency kind,” but comes to the street for drugs and community.
