MC

What shapes and shakes up a career path? For street outreach worker MC, it all started with tripping over somebody’s abandoned naloxone kit on her way to the downtown parkade to get her car, back when she worked in Victoria’s hospitality industry. Minutes later, she heard the security guard at the parkade calling out for help. He was standing over a man who had overdosed in the parkade. “Have you got naloxone?” he asked MC. She’d never carried it, but ran back to the street and grabbed the kit she’d seen. They injected the man. Paramedics were soon on the scene. The man lived. And a street outreach worker was born.
