Chelsea

Chelsea and her best bud Kora have been staying at Rock Bay Landing for a while now. It’s one of the few shelters in town that allow people to stay with their pets, though there are always going to be challenges in a room shared with two other people who could be different people every night, says Chelsea, who has had three-year-old Kora since she was a wee pup. “You never know what you’re going to see in the room that’s bad for a dog, like a broken glass pipe or something. And sometimes the people are dog people, sometimes they aren’t.” Rock Bay has 84 permanent shelter beds, 25 of which are for women.
