Sheldon

That’s Sheldon with the big smile, and a friend who hates to be left out of a photo but has mixed feelings about being in one. Sheldon toughed it out through his own recovery a while back, and now spends time on Pandora as a “protector,” keeping an eye out for the people he loves out there and stepping up in the event that someone looking for trouble appears on the scene. “I tried so hard to get this guy into rehab,” says Sheldon. “I want my friends not to die.” That last comment prompts his friend to roll up his pant legs and pull up his shirt to show the many, many tattoos he has memorializing the many, many friends he has lost to the toxic drug crisis. April 14 will mark 10 years since BC declared a state of emergency, and while deaths were down in 2025, they’re still many times higher than the year when the emergency was declared.
