Cheyenne

Cheyenne is back on the street after three years of having a place in supportive housing, and acknowledges that yelling out “Take the fucking thing, then!” when staff found an airsoft gun in his room during a mandatory room check was perhaps not the best idea. In fact, it got him evicted and arrested. He’s out on bail now, and homeless yet again. He’s making an effort to show up regularly at one of the shelters, as that can eventually lead to a steady bed. “The thing that people need to know about homelessness is that it comes with a whole lot of hurdles and stresses – carrying around all your possessions, finding some place to rest your head every single night. And the stigma! I understand that there are some bad apples, but don’t cut us all from the same cloth.” Cheyenne is Ojibway and Odaawaa, and got back to Ontario in December to see his family for the first time in 11 years.
