Rob (aka Krackers) and Hightower the artist are among a group of friends – some of them off and on homeless, some with places nearby – who have been socializing outside over a few beers for more than 35 years, most often at the picnic tables along Gorge Road near Tillicum. The area used to be a good spot to set up a low-profile camp in the trees, but increased bylaw patrols have made that a lot harder for people. Hightower brings his sketch book everywhere. Rob notes that his pal is also a clay sculptor who made some great gargoyles that he placed here and there in the area. They all got taken. The gang is making a plan for a redo, but this time they’ll hang the gargoyles up high where they’re not so easy to grab.
