Rick

This fellow greeted me with a classic politician’s smile and “Great to see you!” handshake when I came around the corner at Pandora and Douglas yesterday. And sure enough, Rick Ebbs-Canavan says he’ll be running in the municipal elections on Oct.17. ( He’ll need $100 and at least 25 nominators first, though.) His plan is to get the street community to vote for him, noting that while he has never been homeless, he can relate. Rick recognizes a win isn’t likely, but figures it’d be fun to try. “Ok, I’m not trying to get elected, but I could get some votes. I believe the people out here need as much support as they can get. I’m not going to win, but I could rock the boat.” I had more questions for Rick, but other people were coming up Pandora and true to political form, he quickly lost interest in our conversation and started reaching out to shake some new hands. ” Great to see you!” he called out to the puzzled pedestrians. “Hope I can count on your vote!”
